I really love how the Japanese spin poi. They generally stick to European juggler style but they add a bit of a martial arts feel to it. A lot of people don’t putĀ Japanese style in it’s own category but I think it’s in a league of its own. I used to train with some of the well respected fire performers in Japan and they’re really good because they go balls to the wall with practice. You can’t do anything in Japan and be kind of good at it. You’re either perfect, or you’re too ashamed to do what you do in public. It was tough training but when I watch videos of Japanese fire spinners now, I realize how lucky I was to actually have a chance to spin and train with such remarkable people. I have a feeling I’ve worked with this guy before. He looks really familiar…
